What is Broccoli?

Broccoli is a green vegetables containing large flower head, called  a “floret”, that can be eaten along with its stem. Broccoli is known for its nutritional value, being rich in vitamin K, vitamin C, fiber and various antioxidants. Broccoli contains cancer protective compounds, it is good for eye health and is safe to eat for everyone. It can be eaten raw or cooked and is commonly used as side dish, salad, soups, stir-fry and many ways.

How to select Broccoli?

Select Broccoli with bright green head with compact cluster of florets. Generally open florets are older. Avoid purchasing Broccoli with yellow flowers. Choose strong stem, if the stem is woody do not buy it.

How to cook Broccoli

First of all, cut the head part of the broccoli and wash it. Boil the broccoli in a small amount of water until all of the water has evaporated, but be sure not to overcook it. Transfer the boiled broccoli to a separate bowl and set aside. Heat some olive oil or other cooking oil, and fry the chopped ginger, garlic, and green chili until they are golden brown. Turn off the flame and season with black pepper and salt, then add the boiled broccoli and sauté for 2-3 minutes. Sprinkle some red chili powder to taste, and mix everything together. Your healthy broccoli dish is now ready to serve.

Steps for cooking Broccoli

Step 1:- Cut the flower parts of a  Broccoli which looks like tree.

Step 2:- Chop the ginger, garlic and green chili in a fine pieces.

Step 3:- To prepare the broccoli, start by bringing a small amount of water to a boil. Add the broccoli and let it cook until the water has been evaporated, but be careful not to let it sit too long and become overcooked.

Step 4:- Fry finely chopped ginger, garlic and green chili until golden brown and turn off the heat and season with black peeper and salt.

Step 5:- Fry for 2-3 minutes.

Step 5:- Sprinkle red chili flakes and squeeze lemon juice according to taste.

Your healthy Broccoli is ready to serve.

Ingredients
  

  • 250 grams Broccoli
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • 3-4 cloves garlic
  • 2 inch ginger
  • 2 green chili
  • As per taste salt
  • As per taste red chili powder

Instructions
 

  • First of all cut the head part of Broccoli and wash with clean water. Boil Broccoli until tender with less amount of water in such a way that all water must be evaporated and Broccoli must be tender. Do not over cook it. After a boil take out in a plate and keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a cooking pan and fry finely chopped ginger, garlic and green chili until golden brown. Season with black pepper and salt.
  • Add boiled Broccoli and saute for 2-3 minutes. Sprinkle chili flakes and mix it well your healthy Broccoli is ready to serve.
