Methods

  1. First of all, lets prepare batter to make a sel roti. For that you need to rinse rice grains(uncooked rice) several times to extract impurities in it. After that soak it overnight or at least for 8-10 hours. Once the rice gets soaked drain the water and grind the soaked rice mixing ghee and sugar. You can grind it using an electronic mixer traditional equipment like silauto and lohoro or okhali.
  2. Take a big bowl and pour the granulated rice, grated coconut, cardamom powder and cashew and almond nuts powder and mix it well.
  3. Lets make a batter, it should neither be too watery nor too thick. It should be somewhere between thick and watery. You can also add some milk and water to adjust the consistency of the batter.
  4. Now heat an oil in a deep frying pan or you can use ghee instead of an oil. Now pour a batter into the oil making a round circular shape.

As an alternate you can cut the bottom part of a water bottle to use as a funnel. An expert sel roti maker can pour the batter with his/her hands themselves.

Before pouring you must have to check the consistency of the batter and adjust as per need. After that, fry the sel roti from both sides until it turns golden brown . When Sel roti becomes golden brown remove it from oil with the help of a newspaper or a paper towel soak excess oil or ghee. Repeat the process until the batter is finished.

Enjoy Sel roti with your family and friends.
